Río Dulce

From the Castillo de San Felipe to the meeting with the sea near Livingston, you will find an incredible paradise full of life and nature. Between the hot tropical sun, the sea breeze and the Caribbean humidity, this extensive National Park concentrates the essence of this region.

Castillo San Felipe

Lake Izabal is connected to the Caribbean Sea through the Río Dulce and El Golfete. The fort was originally built by the Spanish in 1652, strategically located at the narrowest point of the river in an attempt to stop the activities of pirates, who came up the Río Dulce to raid supplies.

Lake Izabal

It is the largest lake in the country. Surrounded by beautiful beaches such as El Estor, Mariscos, Playa Dorada and lush vegetation. It is an ideal lake for sailing and can also form waves of some consideration.

Finca El Paraíso

Wonderful hot spring waterfalls. A wide waterfall of warm water 12 meters high that plunges into a transparent pool cooled by streams of surrounding streams. Finca El Paraíso is ideal for those who wish to spend time in a pleasant environment amidst lush tropical vegetation.

Siete Altares

Siete Altares is a series of freshwater waterfalls and natural pools. This is a protected area and is home to a great variety of flora and fauna of the region. The boat trip is 1:00 – 1:30 hours from Nanajuana Rio Dulce.

Playa Blanca

Unique for its white sand and turquoise waters, the beauty of Playa Blanca stands out for its remote location and limited access by boat. The boat trip takes 1 ½ to 2 hours from the hotel.

Excursions

El Boquerón

The limestone canyon of El Boquerón is located 500 meters from the road to Río Dulce. The canyon extends for another five kilometers, if you want to explore a little further.

Sendero Las Escobas

Discover the wonders of the rainforest as you walk through the reserve via bridges and suspension platforms. Home to more than 400 species of birds, insects, reptiles and a variety of fauna and flora, some of which are unique to this area of the world.

Quirigúa National Park

Archaeological site declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. It has the tallest stelae of the Mayan civilization. The Archaeological Ensemble of Quiriguá consists of the following structures: The Main Center, Central Plaza, Ball Game, The Acropolis and animal forms.
